Kapalua Tennis Garden

Our tennis staff also specializes in matchmaking services, so you can play as much tennis as you wish.
Opened in 1979, Kapalua Tennis Garden is sculpted out of lush tropical foliage with stunning views. The hillsides bloom in a profusion of color. A perfect backdrop for the ten plexipave courts paired in tiered clusters; four lighted for night play. Each set of courts is secluded in landscaped privacy with its own viewing lanai.

Meet the Instructors
Jeff Smith
PBI Tennis Director
Jeff Smith brings over 25 years of playing experience to the Kapalua Tennis Garden. A graduate from North Carolina State University, Jeff played college tennis on a full scholarship in the Atlantic Coast Conference. He played singles & doubles all four years while at NCSU and played in the 1999 NCAA Division 1 Tournament. Jeff was part of several Top 10 team wins during his college career.
Entering his 3rd year with PBI, Jeff has big expectations as Tennis Director, in leading the tennis program here at Kapalua. He wants to make sure that you have a wonderful tennis experience.
Jeff spends much of his free time with his wife Colleen, and daughter, Sky. They can oftentimes be found hiking through some really fun and exciting trails that the island offers. He is very excited to be here and looks forward to meeting you!
Chris Duarte
PBI Tennis Professional
Chris Duarte is a native to Northern California, receiving his B.S. in Computer Engineering from San Jose State University. During his studies he created the SJSU Club Team and played collegiate club matches against UC Davis, Berkley, and Stanford while teaching at several award winning clubs in the South Bay Area. He also found the opportunity to teach abroad in Switzerland where he developed a love of travel.

Chris joined PBI after graduation and started his first full assignment at Kapalua in 2010. He excels with Juniors, QuickStart programs, and sharing the fundamentals of tennis. Chris brings his passion and enthusiasm to the Kapalua Tennis Garden.
Since coming to Maui, his photography hobby has taken him to all corners of the island, as well as India. Don't be afraid to strike a pose if he points his camera at you.
